If a Read Effect is to be displayed over a scanline back-
ground (§10.5), the background must be displayed
before the first
READ NEXT operation is executed.
Scanline backgrounds are not read into the Read Next
buffer. A scanline background is not affected by any
Read Effects operations.

Pressing DO instead of READ NEXT clears the Read
Next buffer, and executes the Read Effect of any current
message to a blank screen.
This can also prevent accidental display of a message that
was left over in the Read Next buffer when a new Read
Effects sequence is executed.

To execute a sequence of Read Effects, you can program
the sequence of Read Effects into a Function Key. This
allows you to execute the entire sequence using one key-
stroke. See Section 12 for information on programming
Function Keys.
If the system is equipped with Extended Effects
Frame Buffers (EEFB’s):
After executing Multiple
Effects from a Function Key, if images remain on screen,
or there are problems typing new characters, the EEFB’s
need to be reset.
