For example, entering a value of 2 doubles the width of
the characters. Entering a value of
0.5 halves the width of
the characters. Figure 18-8 illustrates the effects of
changing the X Scale Factor.

To set the X Scale Factor:
Enter the new value in the
X SCALE FACTOR: field.
Always enter the value in the following format:
x.yz.
For example, if you want to change the width to 1/10
of its original size, enter
0.10 in the X SCALE FAC-
TOR:
field.

The edge sharpness of the characters can be set. The level
refers to the amount of filtering applied to the characters
after they have been converted. The higher the value, the
more filtering that is applied. The sharpness level can be
set at a value from
0 (no filtering), which is the sharpest,
to
7 (highest amount of filtering), which is the softest.
The default value is
1. It is recommended that you enter
a value of
1 to generate sharp-edged characters, as a
value of
0 may produce “ringing” or “ghosting” around
the edges of the character. If a value greater than
7 is
entered, the setting defaults to
7.
Original Width
