Buffers & Channels 14-18 Revision D
0HVVDJH&RPSRVH5HVWULFWLRQV
When MAX!> Preview Output is enabled, the following
restrictions apply:
• Text cannot be typed or edited in the Preview (Back-
ground) buffer. To add or edit text, transfer the con-
tents of the Background buffer to the Foreground
buffer as described in §14.3.4.1, then edit. The
edited work can then be transferred back to the Back-
ground buffer.
• MAX!> Preview cannot display a scanline back-
ground (
CNTL B). When a message with a scanline
background is read into Preview, the text is displayed
on the Preview Output, but the background is dis-
played on the AIR CHANNEL. The scanline back-
ground remains on the AIR CHANNEL, regardless
of
CNTL XFER operations.
Additionally, if a second message containing a scan-
line background is read into the Foreground or Back-
ground buffer, the new scanline background replaces
the first one.
It is most important to keep track of which messages
contain scanline backgrounds, to avoid accidental
display of the scanline background when reading a
message into the Background buffer.
• Read Effects cannot be previewed in the Background
buffer (Preview), although execution to AIR operates
normally.
• When
CNTL ALT READ is used to read a message
into the Background buffer of the EEFB, the message
will be visible on the Preview Output monitor, but
not on the AIR monitor, unless the Transparency of
the Background buffer is set to more than
0 in the
Read Effects menu.
• Video is not keyable.
• Cel Animations can not be executed in Preview.
• Crawls cannot be executed in Preview.
