This setting identifies which Character Placement Table
will be assigned to the Machine Font. A Character Place-
ment Table maps each of the Machine Font characters
onto a key or combination of keys on the CHYRON key-
board. For example, when you press the letter
A on the
keyboard, the letter
a is displayed. When you press the
SHIFT + A on the keyboard, the letter A is displayed. You
can use a default table or a custom table that you create
using the Placement function (§18.7).
NOTE
The directory containing the
Character Placement Table (§18.7)
must
be the same as the directory
that will contain the new Machine
Font (§18.4.7.2).
To set the Character Set ID:
• Enter the three character name of the selected Char-
acter Placement Table in the
CHARACTER SET ID:
field.
The default Character Set ID for NTSC systems is
STD
(Standard). The default Character Set ID for PAL or
PAL-M systems is
ITL (International), and includes inter-
national accents and characters.

You can indicate how wide the characters in a Machine
Font will be in relation to the width of the original Master
Font, without changing the Font Size (height). X Scale
Factor can be set from
0.10 (10% of original width) to
10.00 (1000% or ten times the original width). The
default setting is
1.00. If a value less than 0.10 is
entered, the setting defaults to
0.10. If a value greater
than
10 is entered, the setting defaults to 10.00.
