iNFiNiT! Family Operation Manual
Revision D 2-45 Installation
• If bit 7 is Off, override the Program Loader menu Battery
Backed Up RAM settings by using bit 8. If bit 8 is Off,
use Remote mode. If bit 8 is On, use Local mode.
Keep in mind that when using the DIP switch to set
Local
mode, the keyboard's ArcNet ID, which is set via the keyboard's
DIP Switch, MUST match the Transcoder ArcNet ID, which is
the above-mentioned DIP Switch. This is checked in the
PROM code. By altering the Transcoder Dip Switch settings
above to
Local
mode, you are also changing the ArcNet ID.
For the keyboard to work, you must also set the corresponding
bit on the keyboard DIP Switch.
There is an additional, easier way to restore
Local
control to
the ArcNet keyboard without having to reset the DIP switches:
[ ] 1. Reboot the system by pressing the
Reset
button on
the unit.
[ ] 2. After the system has rebooted, press
SET-UP U
Ï SPACE BAR CNTL
. Control returns to the
ArcNet keyboard.

All system commands to iNFiNiT! Family systems are entered
through the keyboard. The only time you need to use a main
chassis control is to turn the unit ON or OFF, or to do a system
restart using the RESET pushbutton on the CPU board.
iNFiNiT! and MAX!> keyboards are equipped with a floppy
disk drive. This drive is used to transfer Master Fonts and sys-
tem programs to the hard disk, and also to back up your own
material.
NOTE
MAXINE! system keyboards do not
provide a floppy disk drive at the
keyboard. The drive is instead on the
system chassis, however it provides
exactly the same functions as the
keyboard-mounted version.
