ations.
FONT DIR: Current Machine Font directory in use. Can be set in
Directory Defaults to change automatically with the mes-
sage directory. If a font directory becomes invalid (e.g.
from removal of removable media or by setting Auto
Change Font Dir to Y in Directory Defaults), Message
Compose falls back on the system default font directory
(e.g.
C/MAX, C/MAXINE, C/INFINIT), so that it is possi-
ble to re-access the Font Load Utility menu. If the boot
volume is not valid, the system falls back on the current
font directory volume. See §8.2.2.4 for information on
setting directory defaults.
Color: The Color Key currently selected. Current color is also
displayed on the Keyboard
LCD.
Char: Indicates the character at that cursor position. If a char-
acter is produced by pressing
ALT first, then the character
appears. For example, when
ALT SHIFT + A is typed,
ALT A appears in the Char: field. The system supports a
maximum of 63 characters per row.
Row: The row the cursor is on. The top row is designated row
0 (zero). There can be a maximum of 24 rows per screen
(rows 0 - 23).

cates buffer in which you can currently work (1, 2, or 3).
Buffer 2 is an optional buffer for MAX!>, and buffer 3 is
optional for the iNFiNiT! Letter indicates to which out-
put (CHANNEL A, CHANNEL B, or PREVIEW) this
buffer is assigned. CHANNELS A and B feed to the AIR

VIEW CHANNEL output. MAXINE! and single-buffer
MAX!> systems indicate Buffer 1 only. See Section 14
for information on buffers and CHANNELS.
