This section explains how to create and read back mes-
sages that roll from bottom to top, crawl from right to
left, fade in or out of one channel, or produce characters
that appear one at a time as from a typewriter.
Roll, Crawl, and Slow Reveal have their own keys for
setup and execution. Roll and Crawl tutorials appear in
§9.3.3 and §9.4.4 respectively.
Rolls and Crawls can be executed simultaneously with
other Read (Section 15) and Mix (Section 16) Effects,
Transforms (Options Handbook) and/or each other by
using Multiple Effects. See Section 17 for information on
how to set up these operations.

Roll setup is a three-part procedure.
• One or more messages are created and recorded.
• A Roll Control Buffer List is created. This list can
contain up to 100 entries specifying commands such
as
Speed, Pause, Time, and messages to be rolled.
• After the list is completed, it is checked for errors,
loaded, and executed.
