Special Roll is highly recommended
for Rolls using Ease, since the speed
changes may cause a slight jitter as
certain speeds are crossed.
It is good practice to preview Rolls to
see how they look when executed.
To apply Ease to a Pause or Speed command:
• Cursor to the desired
Pause or Speed com-
mand step, then press
E.
To remove
Ease from a Pause or Speed command:
• Cursor to the
Pause or Speed command step that
contains the
Ease command (E), then press E.
NOTE
The Roll Control message may
include any combination of
commands with or without Ease.
Ease
is also available during Roll execution as follows:
• While the Roll is in progress, press
ALT, then
enter the new
Speed number using the Address
Keypad. This causes the speed change to occur
gradually.

When rolling text that contains an abrupt transition in
brightness, there is significant flicker along the tops and
bottoms of the characters, especially at speeds below
5.
The flicker is especially visible on PAL systems due to
the lower refresh rate.
Selecting
Special Roll does not help this problem. How-
ever, using soft fonts greatly reduces flicker.
