Buffers & Channels 14-42 Revision D
The text from buffer 2 now appears on the PREVIEW
monitor; and the text and green background from buffer 3
appears on the AIR monitor. The text from buffer 1 also
appears on the AIR monitor. The blue background cre-
ated while you were working in buffer 2 does not appear
with the buffer 2 text on the PREVIEW monitor - the red
background that was in the active buffer (1) appears on
the PREVIEW monitor.
• In order to transfer the blue background that you cre-
ated while in buffer 2, it is first necessary to desig-
nate buffer 2 as active.

MAXINE! is equipped with one frame buffer and one
output. It is not able to access the
CNTL XFER function.
However, MAXINE! can use the
XFER function to swap
the contents of the displaying buffer and a non-displaying
memory buffer. A page of text can be created in the dis-
playing buffer, then transferred to the memory buffer, so
that new work can be done in the displaying buffer. Note
that only the displaying buffer has an output.
RGB images are not transferred to the non-displaying
buffer, and are therefore lost when the
XFER is executed.
In order to be able to transfer an RGB image to the non-
displaying buffer, it must first be converted into a font
character, and then typed on the screen.
