The Capture file is a portion of SCSI Express drive mem-
ory set aside only for the capture of incoming video.
Recorded files can occupy the remainder of the drive, but
cannot overwrite the Capture file. For example, on a 400
megabyte drive, 100 megabytes can be allocated for the
Capture file, leaving 300 for the recorded files.
There can be only one Capture file stored on a system,
even if the system is equipped with more than one SCSI
Express drive. Each time a Capture is executed, it over-
writes the previous Capture file.
The capacity of the Capture file can be changed, but the
only way to erase a Capture file is to reformat the drive or
to create a Capture file on another SCSI Express drive.
If opening the Total Control Panel menu for the first time,
or the designated or default SCSI Express drive has been
reformatted, the system automatically creates a Capture
file on the SCSI Express drive designated in the Setup
SCSI Express window (accessed from the Message Com-
pose main menu (
SET-UP E)).
The following appears on the Prompt Line as the menu is
initializing:
Creating video capture file - please wait
Creating key file - please wait
If no path has been specified, the Capture file is created
on drive
Z. This Capture file is remains on the disk, even
when the system is powered down. Therefore, it is not
necessary to create a Capture file each time the Total
Control Panel menu is opened.
