The Character Placement Table defines which character
(upper or lower case, symbol, number, etc.) is produced
when a specific key or key combination is pressed.
The default table for an NTSC system is the
STD table;
for a PAL system it is the
ITL table, but both tables can be
used on either system. If you do not use the
Placement
function,
Convert automatically maps the characters
using the default table. You can also create a custom
table so a logo can be typed using a single keystroke, or
an accented character can be created. For example, you
can map a weather logo onto the letter
W. Whenever W is
typed, the logo appears. A logo or other RGB image can
be mapped onto a Character Placement Table only if the
graphic has first been converted into a Machine Font
character.
