[ ] 2. Enter the number of rows from each page that
will be crawled.
The number of rows specified must be equal to or less
than the number of rows capable of being used in the
message. This depends on the height of the fonts used in
the message. For example, a large logo may limit the
Crawl to one row.
NOTE
The Rows command is optional, but
must be placed in either Step 0 or
Step 1. The maximum number of
rows that can be crawled is 24.
However, if the number of rows is not
specified,
the entire message is
crawled on one row!

Normally, the height of each Crawl row is determined by
the height of the corresponding row in the first Crawl
message in the Crawl Control Buffer List. If small char-
acters are crawled before larger characters, parts of the
larger characters may be cut off, or the characters may
lose alignment with each other. there are two ways to
avoid this:
• Ensure that each row in the first crawled message
contains the largest character(s) both above (Baseline
Height) and below (Descender Height) the baseline
that will be crawled in that row in all subsequent
messages. See §9.5.2 for more information on Base-
line and Descender Heights.
• Add a Status (
A) or a Time (T) command to the
Crawl control buffer list. If a Crawl is a Timed Crawl
(
T), or the Crawl Control buffer contains a Status (A)
command, the Crawl is scanned before execution, to
find the largest font in all of the messages. This
ensures that the Crawl does not truncate characters or
