The FORMAT function both formats and initializes disks;
typically, it is used to prepare new floppy disks or car-
tridges. The internal hard disk is already formatted and
initialized with all system programs you ordered.
There is usually no need to format the hard drive; it is
ready to accept data in the
<system_name> directory
when the unit leaves CHYRON.
NOTE
To disable the FORMAT function, use
the DELETE function to remove the
file named FORMAT from the C/
SYSTEM/ PROGRAMS directory. The
file can be copied back onto the hard
disk from the Programs floppy if you
decide to restore format capability
later.
To format a disk:
• Press
F or select FORMAT to display the FORMAT
window (Figure 19-21).
The cursor is positioned on the
FORMAT DEVICE: X
field, where
X is the currently selected drive.
