Text can be moved in one of two modes: Locked and
Unlocked.
Locked text is the default. The Status Area in the Mes-
sage Compose main menu specifies
Mode: Locked.
When
Locked, the cursor-selected character and the text
to the right of it shift when moving left or right in a
SHIFT CHAR + ÌÍ operation. SHIFT CHAR + ÎÏ
operations can also affect lower rows, depending on how
far the character is moved.
Additionally, a cursor-selected row and the rows below it
shift when moving or up or down in a
SHIFT ROW +
ÎÏ operation.
•To
Unlock text, press CNTL M.
The Status Area in the Message Compose main menu
now specifies
Mode: Unlocked. In Unlocked Mode,
only the cursor-selected character or row shifts; other
characters or rows are unaffected.
Unlocked text moves independently of other text, in any
direction by any amount.
Press
CNTL M again to return to Locked Mode.
When text is
Locked, moving a character or row forces
other text to move as well.
Characters and rows can be overlapped in either mode.
