If there is text in the last row of the message that had
been rolled previous to the
Pause command, it could be
visible on screen when the next message pauses.
To enter a
Pause command:
[ ] 1. Press
P.
[ ] 2. Enter a pause time, in fields, from
1 to 999,
then press
. A
Pause duration of 0 allows
for a manual restart.
NTSC or PAL-M: 60 fields = 1 second
PAL: 50 fields = 1 second
To manually restart Roll after a
Pause:
• Press
SPACE BAR to resume at previous speed, or
enter a new integral speed on the Address Keypad.
The
Î or Ï keys can also be used to restart the Roll,
but at 1/10th higher or 1/10th lower the speed respec-
tively that the Roll was running.
To manually pause during Roll execution:
• Press
0.

The Time command sets a fixed duration for the Roll.
Used in place of the
Speed command, Time computes
the speed based on the entered duration, and is calculated
from the point that the Roll executes, to the point that the
last character leaves the screen.
The
Special Roll command MUST be entered at the top
of the Roll Control Buffer List in order to use the
Time
command
, unless it is to be executed on a MAXINE!
equipped with one standard frame buffer. This type
of MAXINE! can execute a Timed Roll, even though it
cannot execute a Special Roll.
