Revision D 14-43 Buffers & Channels

The ALT XFER function, like the XFER and CNTL XFER
functions, acts as a router for signal output.
ALT XFER transfers the contents of A AIR to B AIR, and
vice versa. The new setting is reflected in the
BUFFER:
field in Message Compose.
When
ALT XFER is executed, the scanline backgrounds
(§10.5), if any, that were built in each of the buffers,
transfer to the new outputs along with the buffer contents.
For example: assign buffer
1 to A AIR, and build a blue
scanline background. Assign buffer
2 to B AIR, and
build a green scanline background. When
ALT XFER is
executed, the blue background moves to
B AIR along
with the contents of buffer
1. The green background
moves to
A AIR along with the contents of buffer 2.
To swap the outputs of CHANNELS A and B:
Press
ALT XFER.
ALT XFER used in conjunction with the Third Channel
Output can be especially helpful to the Primary User in a
Dual User iNFiNiT! system. CHANNEL B can be made
to emulate the PREVIEW CHANNEL as follows:
In the Mix Settings Window in the Mix Effects
(§16.7) or Multiple Effects (§17.5) main menu, set
the Output Percentage level of the buffer assigned to
CHANNEL B to
0 so that CHANNEL B does not
display on AIR.
You can still see and work in the buffer assigned to
CHANNEL B on the Third Channel Output monitor, but
it does not appear on AIR. The outputs of CHANNELS
A and B can then be swapped to transfer the contents of
the buffer assigned to CHANNEL B to A, so it displays
on AIR.
