The fonts used in the message must
be in the currently selected font
directory, or they cannot be accessed
by CNTL READ.
Additionally, when CNTL READ is
executed, any fonts already loaded
into Font Keys may be replaced. For
example, if there are fonts loaded into
Font Keys 1, 2, and 4, and the
message you are reading was created
with different fonts loaded into Font
Keys 1, 3, 4: Font Keys 1 and 4 are
replaced; Font Key 2 remains
undisturbed; and Font Key 3 is now
loaded.

The Read Next function is used to read a sequence of
messages with ascending ID numbers, and allows you
instantly load messages for display. This function can be
especially useful for displaying pages of credits, day-by-
day weather forecasts, sports scores etc. Each time
READ NEXT is pressed, a page can be displayed immedi-
ately to coincide with a voiceover, or to fit timing
requirements.
Read Next works as follows: A message is loaded into
the Read Next buffer (when
READ NEXT is first
pressed), then displayed on the Edit Monitor. When this
message is displayed (after
READ NEXT is pressed a sec-
ond time), the message with the next ID number is
loaded into the Read Next buffer. The process continues
every time the Read Next function is executed.
Read Next operation can be likened to a batters’ line-up
at a baseball game. The batter up is “displayed on the
