[ ] 2. Enter a three character name in the Character
Set ID:
field. The three characters can be any
combination of letters and numbers.
The only names that cannot be used are the
two default table names:
STD
or
ITL
.
Attempting to enter either of these names
results in an error message display when
exiting the field.
[ ] 3. Cursor down to the
Directory: field. Enter the
names of the drive and directory where you
want to store the table. The default Machine
Font directory is the “system” directory, i.e.
C/
INFINIT
, C/MAX or C/MAXINE.
The Character Placement Table
must
be
recorded to the same drive
and
directory to
which the Machine Font is being converted.
[ ] 4. Press
.
The Character Placement Table is recorded. The Char-
acter Set Identification window disappears, and the Char-
acter Placement Table is displayed. You can now enter
the name of the table in the Options window, and that
table is used instead of the default table.
Character Placement Tables are stored in the same direc-
tories as Machine Fonts. To access the table using Disk
Utilities (Section 19), specify
MACHINE in the FILE
TYPE:
field. The listings for Character Placement Tables
are found at the end of the Machine Font listings as fol-
lows:
Each three letter Character Placement Table name is
preceded by the letter
P. For example, a table named
TST is listed as PTST.
To exit the Character Set Identification window without
performing the record:
Press
CNTL or ESC.
