iNFiNiT! Family Operation Manual
Revision D 2-5 Installation
•
One Keyboard:
Connect the other end of the key-
board coaxial cable to the J2 connector on the key-
board’s rear panel, as shown in Figure 2-2. Connect
the attached ArcNet terminator to the J3 connector!
(On earlier keyboards, place the TERM switch in the
ON (down) position as shown in Figure 2-2.)
•
Multiple Keyboards:
Beginning with the first key-
board in the chain, connect the keyboard coax to the
J2 connector. Connect the “outgoing” coax to the J3
connector. (On earlier keyboards, be sure to place
the TERM switch in the OFF (up) position.)
Repeat this until the LAST keyboard in the chain;
connect the “incoming” coax to the J2 connector,
then attach the ArcNet terminator (or, on earlier key-
boards, place the TERM switch in the ON (down)
position.)
Custom ArcNet
Cables
The supplied ArcNet cable allows the key-
board to be placed within 25 feet of the main
chassis. You may create another cable, up to
1000 feet long, out of RG62/U (or RG62A/U)
coaxial cable.
Use ONLY RG62/U or RG62A/U coaxial
cable. The different impedance of other
types of coax cable may cause data trans-
fer problems.
If you require any assistance in creating this
cable, contact CHYRON Customer Service.
Address settings for
Multiple Keyboards
Up to 256 keyboards may be installed onto
one ArcNet chain. The total cable length
cannot exceed 1000 feet!
DIP switches on the keyboard are factory set
so that each keyboard is
Keyboard 3, and
that the keyboard’s ArcNet Host ID matches
the system’s ArcNet setting.
If you have multiple keyboards, you must set
a unique number for each additional key-
board. In addition, all keyboards connected
to a particular system must be configured
with a matching ArcNet Host ID. See §2.10
for the procedure.
