The accent can be assigned to a Key position in the fol-
lowing ways:
If the accent is assigned to another character, when
that character is typed, the accent is automatically
typed with it (Example [B]) when in Message Com-
pose.
If the ID number of the accent is entered in a
CHR. ID
field, it accents any character that is typed immedi-
ately preceding it (Example [D]) when in Message
Compose.
In Message Compose, to type the accent as a stand-alone
character (Example [C]):
Press the
SPACE BAR, then type the accent charac-
ter.
After typing the accent in this manner, it may be neces-
sary to move the cursor to another line, then back into the
original line in order to type the next character.
You are not restricted to entering only accent Character
ID numbers in the
ACCENT fields. Non-accent Charac-
ter ID numbers can also be entered to be converted in
conjunction with Character ID numbers entered in the
CHR.ID column to produce composite characters (ñ, ö,
é). Experiment with superimposing characters by enter-
ing one ID number into the
CHR. ID field, and another ID
number into the
ACCENT field. They will both be typed
at the same time, one on top of the other, in the resulting
Machine Font.
To enter an Character ID in the
ACCENT field for a
selected Key ID:
[ ] 1. Cursor to the
ACCENT field for that Key ID.
[ ] 2. Enter the three digit Character ID Number
using the Address Keypad.
