Feature Information for IPv4 Access Control Lists
Feature InformationRelease
IPv4 Access Control Lists perform packet filtering
to control which packets move through the network
and where. Such control provides security by helping
to limit network traffic, restrict the access of users
and devices to the network, and prevent traffic from
leaving a network. This feature was introduced.
Cisco IOS 15.0(2)EX
The Named ACL Support for Noncontiguous Ports
on an Access Control Entry feature allows you to
specify noncontiguous ports in a single access control
entry, which greatly reduces the number of entries
required in an access control list when several entries
have the same source address, destination address,
and protocol, but differ only in the ports.
Cisco IOS 15.2(2)E
The IP Access List Entry Sequence Numbering
feature helps users to apply sequence numbers to
permit or deny statements and also reorder, add, or
remove such statements from a named IP access list.
This feature makes revising IP access lists much
easier. Prior to this feature, users could add access
list entries to the end of an access list only; therefore
needing to add statements anywhere except the end
required reconfiguring the access list entirely.
The following commands were introduced or
modified: deny (IP), ip access-list resequence deny
(IP), permit (IP).
