The minimum period of time between state transitions caused by improvement or degradation triggers for a particular
state machine is called the hop period. Use the following command to define the hop period:
configure cable spectrum-group <SM_ID> hop-period <hop_period> [no]
Where: SM_ID is the state machine identifier. Range = 1-40.
hop_period is the minimum amount of time in seconds between successive state transitions for the particular state
machine state. Range = 1-3600 (one hour). Default = 1200.
The [no] version of this command resets the hop-period the default value (1200 seconds).
Note: The minimum time for a periodic trigger should be at least equal to the hop-period.
State transition requests sometimes fail because of system crosschecks. See State Machine Crosschecks (page 683). The
amount of time that a state machine must wait before resending a failed state transition request message is called the
wait time or retry period. Use the following command to define the minimum wait time:
configure cable spectrum-group <SM_ID> retry-period <retry_period> [no]
Where: SM_ID is the state machine identifier. Range = 1-40.
retry_period is the minimum period of time in seconds that must pass before another state transition request may be
sent upstream for a specific trigger, assuming there is not a CAM sparing event. Range = 1 to 604800 (7 days).
Default = 86400 (1 day).
The [no] version of this command resets the retry-period the default value (86400 seconds).
Defining Triggers
Use the following command to define a Periodic trigger:
configure cable spectrum-group trigger <trigger_ID> period <per_time>
Where: trigger_ID is a pointer to a global trigger that can be used for all state machines. Range = 1-64.
per_time is the amount of time in seconds that is allowed to elapse before the periodic trigger causes the state
machine to transition to the next state. Range = 1 to 604,800, which equals one full week.
Use the following command to define a Time-of-Day trigger:
configure cable spectrum-group trigger <trigger_ID> time <day> <hh:mm:ss>
Where: trigger_ID is a pointer to a global trigger that can be used for all state machines. Range = 1-64.
