can only be "learned" via static router joins. The IGMP router protocol can be viewed externally as turned off at this point
and only the membership tracking functionality is being used internally. The command to do this is:
configure interface cable <slot/mac> ip igmp multicast-static-only
configure interface cable-mac <mac>.<subif> ip igmp multicast-static-only
The no version of the command allows dynamic multicast again.
Forced Downstream Replication of Multicast Traffic
Multicast traffic is normally delivered only to those downstreams of a MAC domain on which there are CPE hosts that have
joined the multicast session. The forced downstream replication allows for the delivery of multicast traffic to all of the
downstream channels associated with a MAC domain.
The following table assists in determining if this configuration is suitable in your application.
Table 97. Deciding Whether to Use This Feature
If the multicast traffic is …
Then this configuration…
Low bandwidth and densely
populated
Should be used because this is the ideal case for its use.
High bandwidth and densely
populated
May be used since the multicast traffic is already replicated across downstream channels.
Low bandwidth and sparsely
populated
May be used since the amount of extra bandwidth consumed by replicating this traffic is
not too great.
High bandwidth and sparsely
populated
Should not be used since the extra bandwidth consumed by replicating this traffic may be
too great.
To enable forced downstream replication of multicast traffic, execute the following procedure.
To Provision Forced Downstream Replication of Multicast Traffic
1. First, if IGMP has been enabled, make a record of the current IGMP configuration:
