Exporter Services
The C4/c CMTS exporter supports the Subscriber Account Management Interface Specification (SAMIS) service for DOCSIS
2.0. The C4/c CMTS exporter supports SAMIS-1 and CPE services for DOCSIS 3.0.
IPDR Session Methods
Services are exported over IPDR sessions using various methods. The methods employed by the C4/c CMTS exporter are:
Time The C4/c CMTS exporter opens a session interval with a SESSION-START message and immediately begins
streaming records (queried and event-triggered), keeping the session open until the end of the scheduled interval where
the session is closed with a SESSION-STOP message. The next scheduled interval begins immediately.
Event The C4/c CMTS exporter opens a session interval with a SESSION-START message and streams event-triggered
records as they occur, keeping the session open until the end of the scheduled interval where the session is closed with a
SESSION-STOP message. The next interval begins immediately.
Adhoc The C4/c CMTS exporter opens a session interval as soon as a collector sends the FLOW-START message. The
C4/c CMTS Exporter streams all records (queried and event-triggered) until queried records are finished, then closes the
interval with the SESSION-STOP message. The next interval begins whenever the collector chooses to send the next FLOW-
START message as part of a new IPDR connection or after previously sending a FLOW-STOP message.
IPDR Records
The set of collected records in a session interval (also called report interval), sandwiched between the SESSION-START and
SESSION-STOP, is called an IPDR Document, identified with a unique DocID. The IPDR Document DocID is formed by the
concatenation of the following:
32-bit UTC timestamp on the left
48 bits of zeros in the middle
48-bit C4/c CMTS management MAC address on the right. (The C4/c CMTS substitutes its SNMP engine ID as the C4/c
CMTS MAC.)
