Once enabled, this feature maintains lists of up to 32 MAC addresses per ARP/ND packet type being dropped because of
throttling. Each interface list contains counts for the first 32 MAC addresses that get throttled.
If a given MAC address becomes inactive, it is dropped from the list and replaced by the next MAC to experience dropped
packets due to throttling.
ARP/ND abuse counts do not persist across a CAM sparing event, but do persist after a Control Complex side switch.
Cable Protocol Throttling Configuration
The configure cable proto-throttle command enables the user to configure specific cable protocol throttling measures for
ARP, DHCP, DHCPv6, IPv6 ND, and IGMP protocols.
Set Specific Protocol Packet Throttling
Use the following command to enable cable protocol-specific packet throttling:
configure cable proto-throttle [<arp | dhcp | dhcpv6 | nd>] [no]
Where: <arp | dhcp | dhcpv6 | nd> = Specific packet for which throttling is enabled (or disabled with the no option)
Throttling Configuration Clear and Show Commands
Various clear and show command forms are associated with cable throttling as discussed in the table below.
For more information on these CLI commands see Command Line Descriptions.
Table 113. Cable Throttling Clear and Show Commands
Clears the counts and MAC information for all upstream protocols. When
a counter reaches the maximum of 65,535, it stops counting until the
counters are cleared. Throttling continues even if the counter is full.
