configure mpls add vpls
ExtremeWare Software 7.3.0 Command Reference Guide 1941
configure mpls add vpls
config mpls add vpls <vpls_name> vpn <vpnid> {from
<local_endpoint_ipaddress> | <local_endpoint_vlan>}
Description
Configures a VPLS with the specified vpls_name.
Syntax Description
Default
edge-service-mode - vlan
local_endpoint_ipaddress - configured OSPF/ISIS Router ID.
Usage Guidelines
This command configures a VPLS with the specified vpls_name. Each VPLS represents a separate VSI.
The vpls_name parameter is a character string that is to be used to identify the VPLS within the switch.
The
vpls_name
string must begin with an alphabetic character, and may contain up to 31 additional
alphanumeric characters. Each VPLS is a member of a single vpn and each vpn may have only one
associated VPLS per switch. Externally to the switch, the vpn is identified by the vpnid. The vpnid is
any non-zero 32-bit value and has network-wide significance.
The optional from keyword defines the
local_endpoint_ipaddress
from which VC-LSPs are
established for the VPLS vpls_name. Since the local endpoint must first establish an LDP session to the
targeted LDP peer (VPLS peer) prior to exchanging vpn parameters, the VPLS peer must be capable of
accepting LDP Hello messages. By default, the
local_endpoint_ipaddress
is the configured
OSPF/ISIS Router ID. The from keyword must be specified when VPLS peers are configured in
conjunction with ESRP. The
local_endpoint_ipaddress
should be configured to match the local VPLS
egress VLAN interface IP address (see Layer-2 Transport on page 3 for discussion on how to use ESRP
to provide redundancy). This allows VC-LSPs to properly fail over to the slave switch when both the
master and the slave switch are configured with the same
local_endpoint_ipaddress.
Optionally, the
local_endpoint_vlan
may be specified in place of the
local_endpoint_ipaddress
. There is no
functional difference between these two configuration parameters. If the
local_endpoint_vlan
parameter is specified, the local endpoint IP address used for the VPLS is the IP interface address of the
specified
local_endpoint_vlan
.
Example
None.
vpls_name Identifies the VPLS within the switch (character string)
vpnid Specifies a vpn ID.
local_endpoint_ipaddress Defines the local_endpoint_ipaddress from which VC-LSPs are established for
the VPLS vpls_name.
local_endpoint_vlan Specifies a vlan instead of the local_endpoint_ipaddress.
